What We Do
'There are no endings. Only beginnings.'
-Brother Alexander (They Built It. No One Came)
Fledgling Theatre was formed by Chris Huntley-Turner, Patrick Holt, Callum Cameron and Christopher Neels, four alumni of the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. With founding members from both the Contemporary and Classical strands of the MA Acting programme, the goal of the company was to create theatre that excited and challenged audiences, whilst utilising techniques learnt from their varied experiences working for companies on different sides of the world. The intention of the company was to continue to develop as artists whilst creating a unique theatrical style specific to Fledgling Theatre.
Over the past four years Fledgling Theatre has had the privilege to work with over fifty performers, across two countries. The company began as a largely ensemble based physical devise company. Our first two productions (Modern Jesus and Jericho Creek) were created through workshop and group collaboration with a resident writer on hand creating a script alongside the physical work. The company has since evolved and has a much stronger focus on new writing.
In 2016 we had our debut at the Edinburgh Fringe at Pleasance with our successful production of 'They Built it No One Came'. A well sold festival run, lead to a London transfer and then a National tour. We are currently in development of two new productions (Celebrate and Neck or Nothing) that will debut this year at The Vaults festival and Pleasance London respectively.
